Metro East win Womens Prestige

Revenge for Metro East

Metro East have taken out the 2009 Womens Prestige Medley title after a comfortable 29 shot win over Metro North yesterday.

In a replay of the Men's final from last week, Metro East claimed redemption in the best possible way, dominating both the triples and fours disciplines.

After successfully topping their sections respectively after 5 rounds, both teams went into the final confident of claiming the top prize but a flying start from the triples combination skippered by Denise Caulfield set the trend for the final. With the 20 ends concluded, a 31-12 victory to Caulfield over Penny Dunbar combined with a 16-7 fours win from Sandy Wallace over Sue Maddern locked the result away.

The Metro North pairs combination of Margaret Cooper and Cherie Morgan battled galliantly for their region, however the Joan Prosser/Penny Landherr pairing prevailed in a close one, 10-9.

Congratulations to Metro East on a terrific 3 rink, 57-28 victory, in front of a very vocal home crowd.

In the playoff for third, Metro West took 2 rinks from Yorke Peninsula to take the prize money with an 8 shot win. Di Green, skipping in the absence of star Kelli Wray had a good 12-6 win over Annette Rowntree.

A good 2 weeks for the Metro Regions with North, East & West filling the top 3 spots over both the Mens & Womens events.

To finish off the trend of repeat winners, North Eastern again took away the winners of the losers prize, defeating Upper Northern by 17 shots.

Once again thankyou to the Payneham Bowling Club for another excellent 2 days.
