Do you have what it takes to be Australia's next National Coach?

The opportunity of a lifetime is currently up for grabs.

With less than a year until the Delhi Commonwealth Games fire into action, Bowls Australia is currently advertising for a National Coach to lead it into battle.

With Australia’s women’s team currently ranked number one in the world, and its men’s team just one place further back, the successful candidate will be charged with the responsibility of leading the side towards Delhi as it chases further success in the international arena.

Fresh off a stunning Commonwealth Games campaign in Melbourne, which netted three gold, one silver and one bronze medal from just six disciplines, Australia is well placed to once again shine on the biggest stage.

Reporting to the Bowls Australia High Performance Manager, the National Coach will be responsible for:

  • Developing, leading and implementing the national high performance strategy in conjunction with the High Performance Manager and Elite Coach Advisor;
  • Case managing athletes in the national squad to ensure peak performance on the green, as well as balancing careers, study and personal factors;
  • Ensuring the continuation of high level success for the Australian bowls program in the international arena.

The successful applicant must also be able to demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Ability to develop, lead and implement the national high performance strategy;
  • Ability to drive and lead improved on green performance of the national squad at international and national level events (demonstrated success in bowls as a player and/or coach at a national or international level);
  • Ability to provide professional and comprehensive case management to the national squad members that includes the maintenance of detailed athlete records;
  • Ability to oversee progress of the Silver Tier program;
  • Ability to oversee progress of the youth programs: Under-18 and under-25.

Please note, this position is approximately two to three days per week, which will be reviewed following the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
